Laura graduated in May 2024 from UW–Madison with degrees in Sociology and Environmental Studies, as well as a certificate in Food Systems. Prior to that time, they worked for the South Madison Partnership (SMP) for two years as a Community Relations Intern, where they played a key role in supporting front desk operations, communications, and community events.
Since graduating, Laura has continued to support SMP in a part-time remote capacity, focusing on evening and weekend reservation support and responding to guest needs as the space continues to grow. They have also managed scheduling systems, streamlined internal email communication, and helped train new staff on data collection and operational processes.
In addition to their operations skills, Laura is passionate about environmental sustainability. They led efforts to make the SMP space officially Green Office Certified, advocating for improved recycling and waste reduction practices across the facility. Their leadership reflects a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable community spaces.
